travel journal

Over the years, I have had the amazing experience of being able to travel the world and see many of its incredible locations all over this fine globe. In my adventures, I have tried my best to record what I saw, where I went, and how I got around in an effort to help others understand these places a bit better and hopefully entice everyone to go out and explore the places they always dreamed of. In my writings I hope to give you just enough information to light that fire in you to explore on your own. If you would like more information, or even to swap stories of your own, please feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. And, keep an eye out for more and more entries to come! There is so much in this world to explore, and so much to learn. Life is a journey! Live it!

Travel Responsibly

  1. Don't Be Rude – People respond to kindness much better than negativity. “You catch more bees with honey than vinegar”
  2. Don't Litter – Keep places as beautiful as you found them. They didn't have that trash in the photo from the guide book that got you wanting to go to that spot on the first place.
  3. Be Thoughtful of Surroundings – Some places have been there for hundreds of years, so be careful not to damage them so that others can continue to enjoy them.
  4. Tip When You Can - It is not necessary in every place around the world, but always welcome. Gratitude is always appreciated.
  5. Put a Little Slack in Your Schedule - You never know when you might want to stay somewhere a little longer. And you might just get stuck somewhere involuntarily. Planes DO get delayed from time to time.
  6. Mind the Time of Year - Some places do have all four different seasons, and others don't. Do your research, pack for the estimated climate, but always pack a jacket or a swimsuit.
  7. Remember, Not Everyone Speaks English - Learn a few words or phrases in the language of where you travel to. Not everyone speaks English, so don’t expect them to. People respond kindly to someone even attempting to speak the local language.

So, I have to sincerely apologize for it taking me so ridiculously long to get you all the low down on my trip to China this last October. The love and out-pouring from the trip has been incredible and I look forward to returning in April 2014 to keep building the relationship with the locals and the Disabled Persons' Federation.

Krankin Thru China Trip Update (9-26-2013)

So, I am down to less than 2 weeks before I embark on a trip of a lifetime – 11 days to be exact – and I am very excited, nervous, happy, scared and so many thoughts and emotions all wrapped into one. My head is already spinning and there are still many days until I fly out. I am so taken aback by all of the support from people and organizations. I have even had the pleasure of chatting with (over Skype) some of the people I will be spending a good amount of my time with in China. Looks like I will definitely be returning with great new friendships.

Pushrim Podcast 2.0

On Monday, January 6th, 2014 I had the awesome privilege to be invited back on the Pushrim podcast show. So, I packed up the truck and made my way back down to San Pedro to meet the guys. We caught up over a quick coffee and got right to it recording. It is such a blast sitting down and chatting with Ray and Rich there at Pushrim. I really dig what they are doing with the website (www.Pushrim.com) and everything they have going.

Krankin Thru China Trip Update (9-19-2013)

This last week has been a great one. Been “present week” for me. My sponsors have gone above and beyond to set me up with the best gear. So far this week I have gotten my 65 litre pack, 2 sleeping bags, and a 2-man tent from the guys at Ledge Sports. I have gotten a new Tension Adjustable Backrest from Supracor, to replace my worn out and well used one. I have gotten a new set of coil-over shocks for my chair from Box Wheelchairs. Items from Frog Legs, Inc., Kenda Tires, and a couple others are still to come. I cannot thank my sponsors enough for how generous they have been. It is par for the course over my relationship with all of them.

Krankin Thru China Trip Update (10-3-2013)

Ok, so my PLAN was to update each day for the final week before I hopped on the plane on my way to the land of the Orient. BUUUUTTTT, the powers that be had another plan and decided to call me sick for a few days with a fever and monster headache. I resisted a doctors visit and even Urgent Care, but upped my water intake a bunch and downed Emergen-C's and dried cranberries like it was my job. So I have missed a few days of updating you all on the progress I have made leading up to this epic voyage I am about to depart on.

Abilities Expo w/Disabled Life Media

From Friday March 30th until Sunday April 1st, 2012 I was invited to join the crew at Disabled Life Media and help represent them at the Los Angeles Abilities Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, California. Donned in a funky steam punk get-up, I had a blast at the show wandering around looking for new models for Andrew to photograph. Thanks to Andrew Angulo of Disabled Life Media for the honor of representing his vision and company. Keep a look out for more work in the future with DLM!
