Like the Featherlite 20 Bag, I received this bag as well just before my recent trip to China for 26 days. The Scorpion 45 WAS the bag of choice on the trip and this is what I have found so far..

Initial Impression:

The compression bag material and design are on par with the top gear companies, as you would expect from a company like Ledge. I really dig the clips on the compression straps to open it and not have to loosen the straps just to get the bag out. The size and weight in compression bag is about the size of a loaf of bread and only maybe 2 lbs -- a third the size of even their Featherlite 20.

The bag is made of a soft comfortable outer fabric. I am looking forward to nights in this one. The zipper pouch on outside of bag good for keys, wallet, passport, or even possibly a heater pack. The dual zipper a plus if you are the kind of person who likes to stick just their feet out when they get warm.

After 1st Trip:

After I used my bag for 26 days wandering about China this last October, I am absolutely in love with my Scorpion 45 degree bag. It packs down so small and light weight it is barely noticeable on my pack.

The weather in China in the various cities and villages I stayed in were all fairly warm for this time of year so this bag was the perfect choice. Overall, it is a very comfortable bag. The soft inner (Softech II 210T Fiber) and outer (GTX Micro Dobby Diamond Ripstop 250T, geesh that’s a mouth-full) fabrics felt good against my skin and aren't noisy like some shell materials. The Hibernate Extreme fill material doesn't feel heavy or bulky at all. And the size of the whole pack zipped up with me neatly tucked inside felt just right – not too binding, but wrapped me up closely. At 6’5” I have a difficult time finding a bag long enough, let alone wide enough to fit my shoulders and arms and not feel like a strait jacket.

I am very pleased with the overall design and performance of this bag and look forward to many more uses. The guys at Ledge definitely made a bag that is a force to reckon with. It is going to make the other “Big Companies” who shall not be named, step up their game if they want to compete.
