Hong Kong - May 2007

I have left Geneva for London and on to Hong Kong. Once again the TSA’s at Geneva Airport push me right through and give me the rock star entrance.

In the Beginning..

In the Beginning..

I was born in a small town named Whitehall in western Michigan along the coastline of Lake Michigan. I was raised on a small "hobby" farm a few miles outside of town. We had the typical animals -- horses, chickens, goats, guinea hens, dogs and cats. So, I was well versed in manual labor as a child.. Also, I had been in athletics since I could pretty much hold a bat and glove. I started out with baseball, playing little league ball for 6 years. Then I moved on to many different sports at my school in junior high. I wrestled, ran track, played basketball and then got into soccer.

Munich - April 2007

Today I am off to Munich, Germany for the weekend to check out some night clubs and maybe a museum, even a cathedral or two. The airport is very cool in Geneva. There were elevators everywhere and it was all very accessible - even the restrooms. There is actually one check-in desk that was for assistive only and as usual, no checked bags for me. I am just carrying my new Kelty (www.Kelty.com) daypack.

Adapted Rock Climbing at GVSU

In February of 2006, I took part in the Adaptive Rock Climbing Clinic at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. The event is put on in part by Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital (where I did my rehab. after my accident), Kentwood Parks and Rec. and Grand Rapids Wheelchair Sports Association. We had a great turnout for the day. A lot of climbers got to show their stuff. I actually made it all the way to the top and got to ring the bell twice that day.
